In 2000, Governor George W. Bush selected Dick Cheney to head the search team for a vice-presidential nominee to join Dubya on the Republican ticket. Cheney's pick: himself!
In 2005, alleged President George W. Bush selected Harriet Miers to head the search team for a Supreme Court nominee to replace Sandra Day O'Connor. Miers' pick: herself!
Does no one in Bush's inner circle ever recommend anyone but him- or herself?
[CORRECTION: Harriet Miers was on the search team that picked John Roberts for the first Sandra Day O'Connor vacancy. She was not on the search team that picked her for the second. But it's still blatant cronyism.]
