Tis the season for gay sons on TV

Sadly (very sadly), Christian Campbell will no longer be gracing our television screens as the gay son on The Book of Daniel, but last night, in the time slot where Commander in Chief should be (and will return next week), we were treated to an exquisite plotline on Crumbs. Fred Savage, all grown up from The Wonder Years, plays the gay son Mitch to ex-conehead Jane Curtin. Last night, Mitch had a date with Rider Strong, who sidekicked for Fred's younger brother Ben Savage in Boy Meets World. Sadly (very sadly), we did not get an on-screen kiss, because Mitch is still hopelessly stuck in the closet; Rider Strong's character walked off rather than wait for Mitch to come to his senses.

Still, it's refreshing to see such fine-looking young men exploring, however clumsily or tentatively, the wonderful world of romance.
